Anthony Hopkins is Sir Nicky Winton in One Life watch official Trailer
Warner Bros. Pictures have released the official first UK Trailer for One Life starring Anthony Hopkins. The fascinating true story of Sir Nicholas ‘Nicky’ Winton, the man nicknamed the ‘British Schindler’.

The film is set to make it’s world premiere this weekend at Toronto Film Festival. What better time to release the trailer for the man who saved many children. Johnny Flynn plays Nicholas as a young man who in 1938 visited Prague in the Czech Republic. During his time there, families fleeing the oncoming Nazi Invasion and he wanted to do something about it. With World War II started time is against him and he would rescue 669. Guilt plagued him that he couldn’t rescue more kids…

I do love those films of unsung heroes of wars, and Sir Nicholas Winton was one of those heroes.

ONE LIFE tells the true story of Sir Nicholas ‘Nicky’ Winton, a young London broker played by Hopkins, who, in the months leading up to World War II, rescued 669 children from the Nazis. Nicky visited Prague in December 1938 and found families who had fled the rise of the Nazis in and Austria, living in desperate conditions with little or no shelter and food, and under threat of Nazi invasion. He immediately realised it was a race against time. How many children could he and the team rescue before the borders closed?

Fifty years later, it’s 1988 and Nicky lives haunted by the fate of the children he wasn’t able to bring to safety in England; always blaming himself for not doing more. It’s not until a live BBC television show, ‘That’s Life!’, surprises him by introducing him to some surviving children – now adults – that he finally begins to come to with the guilt and grief he had carried for five decades.

The rest of the cast includes Helena Bonham Carter, Romola Garai, Lena Olin, Jonathan Pryce, Adrian Rawlins, Samantha Spiro, Marthe Keller, Ziggy Heath, and Alex Sharp. One Life will be out in the UK and Ireland from 1st January 2024.
