Welcome To Walter’s World In First Secret Life Of Walter Mitty Trailer

New film,Remake, Life Of Pi and Oscar potential is something you don’t usually say in one sentence when talking about Ben Stiller.This Boxing Day however Walter want’s to welcome you to his world and see first hand why the previous statement might not sound as ridiculous as first thought, enjoy the first trailer for The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty.

Based on a James Thurber  short story(1939), The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty  is a remake of the classic 1947 Danny Kaye film of the same name about Walter (Stiller)a mild mannered man who is prone to day dreaming. These dreams are no ordinary dreams but ones that take him to the far fetched corners of the world in extraordinary circumstances which Walter is the hero, an adventure he must take when his job is under threat.

The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty has been a ion project of Stiller’s for a very long time.  Before the trailer arrived many critics expected another Night At The Museum type film  but as you watch the trailer you’ll see it’s caught us all by surprise. Blending the reality with fantasy(hence the Life Of Pi similarities) and actually delivering some sort of CGI which has some soul rather than to make it just visually stunning. Ironically this is stunning visually the arctic explorer segment is second to none. Is it Oscar bait? possibly but we don’t get enough to say it’s worthy but what we see is something whimsical, a great choice of music (the band Of Monsters and Men), fantastic cast that give some tone to the film bringing a film that will deliver some wonderful escapism.

The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty is out in UK&Ireland Boxing Day 26th December (25th USA) and co-stars Kristen Wiig, Adam Scott, Sean Penn, Kathryn Hahn, Shirley MacLaine and Patton Oswalt.

Synopsis

In his secret life, Walter Mitty (Ben Stiller) dreams big…really, really big. There’s no challenge beyond his grasp, be it climbing a massive glacier or rescuing a senior citizen from an exploding building. When he’s not daydreaming, the not-so-secret life of Walter Mitty is the opposite of his heroic alter-ego’s; he’s just an everyday guy facing imminent career downsizing, who’s too timid to ask out his pretty co-worker (Kristen Wiig). But when Walter faces his ultimate real-world test, he springs into action on a global adventure exceeding anything even he could have dreamed of.
