Watch The Old Man And The Land UK Trailer Starring Rory Kinnear

Nicholas Parish‘s festival favourite, The Old Man and the Land has released a UK Trailer.
Ever since it’s World Premiere at the Tallin 27th Black Nights Film Festival, Parish directorial debut has picked critical acclaim on the festival circuit. Later this month it will make it’s UK cinema release, hence Reason8 have released the official Trailer.
The bold rural indie drama also stars Rory Kinnear who recently starred in Rings Of Power as an iconic The Lord Of The Rings character. We won’t spoil who, in this Emily Beecham stars alongside Roger Marten who is a real life farmer.
The Old Man And The Land is all about an old farmer (Marten) whose strength fades. Who will inherit the land he loves? His daughter (Beechum) knows farming but lacks sacrifice, while his son (Kinnear) sees only property value. As they bicker, will the farmer’s lifelong devotion to the land be lost, or will someone rise to continue his legacy?
The film covers themes of abuse and mental health all seen through the farming world. RABI is a charity ing those affected, check out the trailer…
An old farmer works his land like he always has, though his powers are waning. He loves his flock and his farm, even though the work is gruelling, and the seasons are getting harder to weather. He’s tied to the land that his forefathers farmed before him.
But who will he leave it to in turn, when the time finally does come, for him to let go? His son and his daughter are both unfit, in their own ways, to take over. His daughter knows farming, but she doesn’t know sacrifice. His son’s only interest in the farm is as a property to sell, not as a repository of a family’s history, a lineage of their connection to the land.
His children bicker over this inheritance, while he quietly, stoically, phlegmatically, with what is left of his powers, continues his long indentureship to the land.
The Old Man And The Land will be select UK Cinemas from 20th September.
