Watch The Cut-throat UK Trailer For Medusa Deluxe

Medusa Deluxe out UK Cinemas 4th June

Murder mysteries and the world of hairdressing are two things you don’t read about in the same sentence. Next month you can see Medusa Deluxe, and today MUBI tease us with the film’s cut-throat UK Trailer.

Thomas Hardman‘s directorial debut is shining a light on the obsessive world of hairdressing, with an extravagant whodunnit. Intriguing premise  makes you wonder if Miss Marple went for a perm and there been a murder. Obviously whodunnit is the closest to Agatha Christie, that’s not to say they won’t use those investigative skills to find out who the killer is.

Let’s get one thing straight this isn’t the world of your local studio salon, this is the hairdressers that are part of the fashion world. Don’t expect those well used tropes to find out who is killing and why, it’s all about the competitions hairdressers compete in. It’s also much about the community that surrounds the job too and how they come together.

The film did well at several Film festivals last year including Locarno and BFI London. Interesting premise with gorgeous Cinematography from Robbie Ryan (The Favourite, American Honey).

After a stylist is found dead, the remaining competitors try to uncover the killer over the course of an evening, Rivalry and mistrust build as the remaining group of determined contestants suspect that someone may be trying to rig the competition, by gruesomely picking off its entrants.

The film has an array of electric performances from its dynamic cast which includes Clare Perkins (Secrets & Lies, Censor, Eastenders), Kae Alexander (Fleabag, Maleficent: Mistress of Evil), Harriet Webb (I May Destroy You, Big Boys) , Darrell D’Silva (Informer), and Luke Pasqualino (Skins, Snowpiercer, Shantaram).

Medusa Deluxe will arrive in UK and Irish cinemas from 9th June. Then will stream exclusively on MUBI from 4th August.
