Watch Teaser Clip For Léa Mysius’s The Five Devils

Earlier this month we learned Boutique distributor/Streaming Service MUBI bought the rights to Léa Mysius’s  The Five Devils. The film is set to make it’s world premiere at Cannes Film Festival shortly, MUBI have released the first official clip from the film.

The Five Devils follows the story of  Vicky a little girl who has a magical gift of reproducing scents. She keeps those scents jarred and the one scent she becomes attached to her own mothers one. When her aunt whom Vicky reproduces a scent which are dark and archaic memories, unsettling her family and revealing secrets.

Vicky (newcomer Sally Dramé), a strange and solitary little girl, has a magical gift: she can reproduce any scent she finds, which she bottles in an assortment of carefully labeled jars. One of those scents belongs to her mother, Joanne (Palme d’Or-winner Adèle Exarchopoulos), to whom Vicky feels an almost obsessive attachment. When the sudden reappearance of her father’s sister, Julia (Swala Emati), upends their conservative Alpine village and threatens the family’s sense of domestic bliss, Vicky finds that by reproducing her aunt’s smell, she can traverse a series of increasingly dark and archaic memories that reveal the secrets of her village, her family, and her own existence.

The cast for this one includes Adèle Exarchopoulos, Sally Dramé, Moustaphe Mbengue, Swala Emati, Daphné Patakia, and Patrick Bouchitey. The Five Devils will be released theatrically in the US, UK and Ireland followed by an exclusive MUBI streaming release. The release dates are still to be announced.
