Second UK Trailer For THE RAVEN

It seems to have been a common trend the past twelve months with so many films releasing new trailers (sometimes up to 12 months before its out) then suddenly a new trailer pops up. James McTeigue’s THE RAVEN is one of those films which was nearly wiped off the face of existence but now Universal Pictures have shipped us over the brand new UK Trailer.

John Cusack plays the film’s protagonist Edgar Allen Poe with Luke Evans playing the young Baltimore detective who teams up with the legendary horror writer as they team together to track down a serial killer who is inspired by the recent works by Poe.As things start to get intense the killer targets now someone close to Poe, will they get the killer in time but who is this person too?! I know some cinephiles weren’t excited greatly that the film is directed by a film maker whose recent track record has been nothing but poor but this actually does look not bad and is a interesting fictional way to show Edgar Allen Poe’s career kicked off. This new trailer is slightly shorter but does include new footage making this an great film to check out, which does look a little like a Se7en gone all out gothic style!

Since the last trailer we now know the UK&Irish release date is now March 9th which was the USA release date which has now been changed to April 27th, the film also stars Alice Eve, Brendan Gleeson, Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Kevin McNally.

In this gritty thriller, Edgar Allan Poe (John Cusack, Being John Malkovich) s forces with a young Baltimore detective (Luke Evans, Immortals) to hunt down a mad serial killer who’s using Poe’s own works as the basis in a string of brutal murders. Directed by James McTeigue (V for Vendetta, Ninja Assassin), the film also stars Alice Eve (Sex and the City 2), Brendan Gleeson (In Bruges) and Oliver Jackson-Cohen (Faster).

When a mother and daughter are found brutally murdered in 19th century Baltimore, Detective Emmett Fields (Luke Evans) makes a startling discovery: the crime resembles a fictional murder described in gory detail in the local newspaper–part of a collection of stories penned by struggling writer and social pariah Edgar Allan Poe. But even as Poe is questioned by police, another grisly murder occurs, also inspired by a popular Poe story. Realizing a serial killer is on the loose using Poe’s writings as the backdrop for his bloody rampage, Fields enlists the author’s help in stopping the attacks. But when it appears someone close to Poe may become the murderer’s next victim, the stakes become even higher and the inventor of the detective story calls on his own powers of deduction to try to solve the case before it’s too late.
