Uglydolls First UK Trailer Is An All Dancing Freaky Adventure

Uglydolls (2019) - 'Moxy'

U-G-L-Y you ain’t got no alibi, you’re just ugly!” well these little colourful fun-loving creatures maybe ”ugly’, they will have their own film…Uglydolls.

STX films will take us to Uglyville next summer when the popular toy brand (created by David Horvath and Sun-Min Kim), today they tease us with the film’s first UK Trailer.

I’m not going to say I’m an expert on these toys, however, I have seen them in shops and around the early noughties they popularity of them exploded worldwide. Kids will love these creatures as well as the pop songs that suit the tempo of the film.

Celebrate nothing been different and these toys certainly were. This probably made the toys more collectable but will it make it right for an animated feature? Originally the film was meant to be released by Illumination Animation (Despicable Me) and now STX Films have given this ugly bunch a home as well creating a full mythology too!

With this being a musical animation, it’s no surprise the voice casting is made up of actors that are also musicians. The cast includes Kelly Clarkson, Nick Jonas, Blake Shelton, Janelle Monae, Wanda Sykes, Emma Roberts, Gabriel Iglesias, Wang Leehom and Pitbull.

Unconventionality rules in UGLYDOLLS, the new animated family adventure based on the beloved toy brand. In the adorably different town of Uglyville, the free-spirited Moxy (Kelly Clarkson) and her UglyDolls friends confront what it means to be different, struggle with their desire to be loved, and ultimately discover that you don’t have to be perfect to be amazing because who you truly are is what matters most.

Directed by Kelly Asbury (Gnomeo and Juliet, Shrek 2), UGLYDOLLS features original songs by Kelly Clarkson, Janelle Monáe, Blake Shelton, Nick Jonas and Pitbull.

Uglydolls will be released in the UK and Ireland from August 16th 2019 (May 10th in the U.S).
