First Trailer WON’T BACK DOWN Starring Maggie Gyllenhaal, Viola Davis, Oscarbait?

The Oscars might have only been 2 and half months ago but already films, actors been touted as potential Oscar nominations so when you have a film which includes a winner from this years awards Viola Davis add Maggie Gyllenhaal and throw in a social issue such as the American education system you can see why this is potential Oscar bait. Tonight the first trailer for WON’T BACK DOWN a film directed by Daniel Barnz (Beastly) which also stars Holly Hunter (another Oscar winner), Oscar Isaac,Ving Rhames and Bill Nunn.Gyllenhaal & Davis play 2 mothers who take on the public school system which is falling apart and decide to create a school to help their children and other struggling children .
Whatever Davis seems to star in she has the ability to turn it to gold however from the evidence of this trailer it looks like she’s taken a step back with Jake Gyllenhaal’s big sister taken the limelight. It does look like a uplifting film however there does look like a few flaws like Oscar Isaac’s love interest with Gyllenhaal and it does look like this film might have that unrealistic fairytale ending defeating the point of the whole film. It might just be a poorly edited trailer or the fact the film’s director is also behind the awful Beastly film?!
No word on a UK&Irish release date but USA cinephiles can see this on September 28th.
