Tom Hanks To Play Geppetto In Live Action Pinocchio?

Disney has had a big streak of success with the Live action adaptations of their classic animated features. As one is released their focus goes on another and that next one seems to be Pinocchio. It seems Disney has sights on an A-Lister to play a big role in that film, Tom Hanks.
The dream makers at Disney are in early talks with Hanks to play Geppetto, the puppeteer who creates Pinocchio who becomes a real boy thanks to a fairy. From here he attempts to prove himself in bravery and right to be a real person. His conscience is Jimmy Cricket and helps him become that boy with some exciting adventures en route.
Pinocchio was based on Carlo Collodi‘s children’s book The Adventures of Pinocchio, in 1940. This animation was created three years after Disney‘s first ever feature Snow White And The Seven Dwarves. The original went onto win two Oscars, including Best Original Song, for “When You Wish Upon a Star”, a song that would go onto to be Disney’s main anthem.
The popularity of Tom Hanks is extraordinary and will be a fine choice for the role. Collider who broke the news of the story, stated the talks are in ‘early stages’. Hanks is no stranger to Disney nor Pixar as he has been the voice of Woody in the Toy Story films. He was also Walt Disney in the 2013 Dumbo Live Action film.
This won’t be the only Pinocchio in the works with Gullermo Del Toro making one for Netflix. His version will use Stop-Motion techniques compared to the mixture of live-action and CGI.
There’s been no word from Tom Hanks to confirm or deny he’s in talks for this role. If he does the cast, it will be a film that’s to be directed by Paddington’s Paul King.
