In a country far far away Ben Affleck aims to take us to boldly go where no fake sci-fi film has gone before in the first UK trailer for his 1970’s based thriller ARGO. Today Warner Bros UK has released the films first trailer of the actor come director’s third film behind the camera and on the evidence it looks like he brings us more solid consistency .

Based on a intriguing on a true story from a article from wired magazine How the CIA Used a Fake Sci-Fi Flick to Rescue Americans from Tehran in which the CIA in a life & Death operation in 1979 to rescue U.S diplomats stranded in the embassy in Tehran  during the Iranian Revolution which happened that year and the way the team got into the country was disguised as a film crew creating a fake sci-fi film. It sound outrageous plot  and we’re sure some sort of some sort of sensationalism will be thrown in especially on the patriotic side of things. However Affleck does look like to have a good balance so that the absurd side of things don’t spoil the serious political side of the film  though things do draft into Ocean’s 11 tone.

Overall it looks a strong film from Affleck and to really top that off he has assembled a fantastic cast too: Alan Arkin, Bryan Cranston, John Goodman, Zeljko Ivanek, Richard Kind, Scoot McNairy, Chris Messina, Michael Parks, Kerry BisheKyle Chandler, Tate Donovan, Clea DuVall, Victor Garber, and Taylor Schilling.

Argo will arrive in UK&Ireland on October 12th,2012.

Based on true events, “Argo” chronicles the life-or-death covert operation to rescue six Americans, which unfolded behind the scenes of the Iran hostage crisis—the truth of which was unknown by the public for decades.  On November 4, 1979, as the Iranian revolution reaches its boiling point, militants storm the U.S. embassy in Tehran, taking 52 Americans hostage. But, in the midst of the chaos, six Americans manage to slip away and find refuge in the home of the Canadian ambassador. Knowing it is only a matter of time before the six are found out and likely killed, a CIA “exfiltration” specialist named Tony Mendez (Affleck) comes up with a risky plan to get them safely out of the country. A plan so incredible, it could only happen in the movies.
