The Coronavirus Lockdown might be an never ending story for now. The same can be said about the release of several films like The New Mutants. With July potentially seen as a possible re-opening time for UK Cinemas (different other regions), it looks like Disney are giving Josh Boone‘s superhero film an August release date.

Nearly three years after production ended, the film has been plagued by delay. The 20th Century  Pictures merger with Disney delayed things, so did various re-shoots. Just when things looked more settled the current worldwide Pandemic delayed things even further .  The first Trailer was revealed at 2017 Cinema Con with April 2018 the original release date for April 2018. Then it moved to February then August 2019 release dates, to more recently April 2020. With Artemis Fowl moving to Disney+, some believed  this film would follow suit, it looks like Disney are more optimistic with 28th August latest attempt.

Disney today also announced new release dates for some of their other new releases.  Ron’s Gone Wrong,  20th Century Studios’ animation now moved to 23rd April 2021 from February 2021. For UK MCU fans according to DigitalSpy we will get Black Widow on 28th October one week earlier than US 6th November release date.

It’s been 4 months since we had any new footage. Here’s that footage in the shape of the film’s Second Trailer…

Twentieth Century Fox in association with Marvel Entertainment presents “The New Mutants,” an original horror thriller set in an isolated hospital where a group of young mutants is being held for psychiatric monitoring. When strange occurrences begin to take place, both their new mutant abilities and their friendships will be tested as they battle to try and make it out alive.

The film stars Maisie Williams (Wolfsbane), Anya Taylor-Joy (Magik), Charlie Heaton (Cannonball), Henry Zaga  (Sunspot), Blu Hunt (Mirage), and Alice Braga (Dr. Cecilia Reyes).

If everything goes to plan The New Mutants will be released in cinemas on 28th August. This release date is only for the film’s North American release, so there’s no guarantee the UK release date will be the same. At the same time the pandemic is so unpredictable, so everything could change again.
