The Jungle Book Goes ‘Dark’ In Andy Serkis’ Mowgli First Trailer

He is the king of Motion Capture acting in feature films, Andy Serkis delayed The Jungle Book film, is finally happening. Later this year Mowgli will finally grace our cinematic screens and today Warner Bros. has released the first UK Trailer.

If you believe you have seen every version of Rudyard Kipling‘s classic story, think again. Things go dark, as the outcast, the survivor, the boy raised by wolves. This trailer pulls no punches apart to remind us this is no kids only version…

The trailer was accompanied with a short behind the scenes Featurette featuring Andy Serkis. One thing about the film, we could see many variants of a familiar story. Originally this version of The Jungle Book was originally set to be released in 2016, next to the Disney version. Serkis has always stated he wanted a different version, more distinctive. In this promo, we hear Serkis talk about his reasons and why he wanted to make his vision of the Rudyard Kipling stand out. An Exceedingly dark one!

The story’s central animal characters are: Christian Bale as the cunning panther, Bagheera; Cate Blanchett as the sinister snake, Kaa; Benedict Cumberbatch as the fearsome tiger, Shere Khan; Naomie Harris as Nisha, the female wolf, who adopts the baby Mowgli as one of her cubs; and Andy Serkis as the wise bear, Baloo. On the human side, Matthew Rhys is Lockwood; Freida Pinto is Messua, and young actor Rohan Chand will play Mowgli, the boy raised by wolves.

Motion capture and live action are blended for “Mowgli,” a new, big-screen, 3D adaptation of Rudyard Kipling’s classic The Jungle Book. The film features an impressive roster of stars under the direction of Andy Serkis.

The story follows the upbringing of the human child Mowgli, raised by a wolf pack in the jungles of India. As he learns the often harsh rules of the jungle, under the tutelage of a bear named Baloo and a panther named Bagheera, Mowgli becomes accepted by the animals of the jungle as one of their own. All but one: the fearsome tiger Shere Khan. But there may be greater dangers lurking in the jungle, as Mowgli comes face to face with his human origins.

Mowgli will arrive in the UK and Irish Cinemas from 19th October. The film also stars Tom Hollander, Peter Mullan, Eddie Marsan, and Jack Reynor.
