The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping Cast Adds Elle Fanning
After weeks of rumours, Elle Fanning has been cast in The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. The actress will play Effie Trinket, Haymitch Abernathy’s stylist in the lead-up to the 50th Hunger Games.
In earlier instalments, Trinket was played by Elizabeth Banks (The Lego Movie, Pitch Perfect). Joseph Zada (The Speedway Murders) will play Abernathy, with Whitney Peak (Hocus Pocus 2) playing his girlfriend, Lenore Dove Baird. The film is based on Suzanne Collins’ 2025 novel. The story follows 16-year-old Haymitch, a resourceful boy from District 12, unexpectedly chosen for the games. Unlike any other, the 50th edition of the games will double the number of contestants, with 48 children battling for their lives.
The cast for this film is stirring the hornet’s Nest with Ralph Fiennes set to play Coriolanus Snow. Maya Hawke, Lili Taylor set to play District champions Wiress and Mags. Also ing them are McKenna Grace as Maysilee Donner, Jesse Plemons as Plutarch Heavensbee, and Kelvin Harrison Jr. as Beetee.
Francis Lawrence has returned to direct, with Billy Ray writing the script. Sunrise follows the previous five Hunger Games entries. The franchise has grossed over $3.3 billion worldwide.
The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping is set for release on 20th November, 2026.
