Sky Renew The Day Of The Jackal Series For Second Season

Sky (and Peacock in the U.S) original drama thriller series The Day Of The Jackal has been renewed for a second season.

The series is based on Lashana Lynch Mi6 agent chasing him. The series that centres around a chameleon-like assassin who will do a contract for the highest price. However he meets his match in a determined agent who follows his path of destruction in a cat and mouse chase across Europe.

The series has been a hit with viewers around the world. Here in the UK, The Day of the Jackal has become the biggest Sky Original ever and the biggest launch on Sky in over two years, drawing a record audience of 3m in its first week. It was also the biggest ever debut for a UK Sky Original in Italy, , Austria, Switzerland and Ireland.

In the US it ranked #1 on Peacock’s Top 10 TV Shows on its platform and was a Top 5 streaming original in the US for its opening weekend (according to preliminary Nielsen data). In Australia the series has become the highest rated new series launch of this year for Fox Showcase.

Whilst the Sky Cinema original films may deliver mixed results, the Sky original series seem to do a lot better. What series have you enjoyed or not enjoyed?
