Shakespeare ‘Retires’ In Kenneth Branagh’s All Is True UK Trailer

What if William Shakespeare retired and had to return home early? In Kenneth Branagh‘s All Is True the Great Bard is forced to return home to Stratford. All is not well when he must face his troubled past and his neglected family!

Sony Pictures Classics has released the UK Trailer reveals what England’s greatest poet did in his twilight years. Branagh himself plays the legendary thespian who struggles with marriage and family life, most of all a personal loss, his only son.

Branagh is no stranger to the playwright’s works, starring in many adaptations on the stage and film. Fans of the English actor/filmmaker’s Shakespearian projects will love this one. A side of Shakespeare’s life we don’t see or hear too much about.

The year is 1613, Shakespeare is acknowledged as the greatest writer of the age. But disaster strikes when his renowned Globe Theatre burns to the ground, and a devastated Shakespeare returns to Stratford, where he must face a troubled past and a neglected family.

Haunted by the death of his only son Hamnet, he struggles to mend the broken relationships with his wife and daughters. In so doing, he is ruthlessly forced to examine his own failings as husband and father. His very personal search for the truth uncovers secrets and lies within a family at war.

The film stars Judi Dench, Ian McKellen, Lydia Wilson, Jack Colgrave Hirst, Kathryn Wilder, and Eleanor de Rohan.

All Is True will be released in UK and Irish Cinemas from 8th February 2019.
