Satoshi Kon’s Perfect Blue Returning To UK Cinemas For 20th Anniversary

Twenty years have ed since the late Satoshi Kon’s (“Millennium Actress”, “Paprika”, “Tokyo Godfathers”) debut film Perfect Blue premiered and to this day is regarded as one of the greatest anime features of all time.
Perfect Blue follows Mima Kirigoe (Junko Iwao, “Neon Genesis Evangelion”) a singer who has a bright future ahead of her when she leaves the chart-topping J-Pop trio “CHAM!” to pursue a career in acting. When a role in a violent crime drama courts controversy and a bizarre blog starts detailing every aspect of her life however, Mima begins to fall apart and her associates start turning up dead. Stalked by madness amidst a whirlpool of fear and a dangerous dance of reality and delusion, Mima is left helpless and riddled with self-doubt in a world where innocence is lost and dreams become nightmares.
Regardless of whether you are an anime fan or just a follower of world cinema, the twentieth anniversary special event for Perfect Blue is one you absolutely will not want to miss – especially if you are viewing it for the first time. Satoshi Kon’s debut is a gorgeous and strikingly provocative film that I can only imagine will be even better when viewed on the big screen and the perfect cult classic viewing this Halloween.
Perfect Blue will arrive in UK cinemas on October 31st for one night only.
