Ryan Gosling In Talks To Star In Shawn Levy’s Star Wars Film

Ryan Gosling, fresh off the extraordinary cinematic spectacle that was Barbie, could possibly travel to a galaxy far, far away next, reports The Hollywood Reporter.
The Canadian actor, most recently seen in The Fall Guy with Emily Blunt, is no stranger to even the most casual cinema-goer at this stage in his career, but he has yet to add an unparalleled franchise like Star Wars to his list of credits. Filmmaker Shawn Levy, however, could be the man to change things.
Levy, of Deadpool & Wolverine and The Adam Project fame, is at the helm of a Star Wars project he has reportedly been developing since 2022 with The Adam Project writer Jonathan Topper aboard to script. Although there’s no release date confirmed, the director and Gosling have entered talks for the actor to get involved. It’s also unclear just what Gosling is in for, how prominent his role will be, or what connection Levy’s film will have to the rest of the Disney-owned franchise (although it’s not connected to the Skywalker saga). Considering Gosling’s immense star power, fans can safely assume the actor will likely tackle a major role.
But it will be a while until these questions are answered. The next Star Wars film, The Mandalorian and Grogu, will hit theatres first, slated to debut in 2026. Levy’s film is amongst a series of announcements made at Star Wars Celebration 2023. This gives fans ample time to await the speculated Levy-Gosling collaboration, but this breaking news is a certain step forward and could even get the ball rolling on the project.
In the meantime, audiences will see Gosling next in Project Hail Mary, a sci-fi thriller from directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, scheduled for a United States release on March 20, 2026.
