Jackie Kennedy maybe no stranger to movieland , but very few take the time to reflect on her side of the coin in the assassination of her husband John F Kennedy. Pablo Larrain’s Jackie asks you to connect with the iconic Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy the former first lady right after the death of her beloved JFK. Today we get our first look at the film with the movie’s first trailer which paints a beautifully intimate portrayal of a woman in grief and a movie that’s bursting with Oscar hope.

Set in the days immediately after the death of JFK that paved the way for the infamous quote ā€œThere will be great presidents again, but there will never be another Camelot.ā€. A personal horror as a woman struggles to come to with the loss of the  man she loves.Stunningly beautiful vision that showcases the frailty if humanity could it set up Natalie Portman for Oscar Glory?

Jackie is a searing and intimate portrait of one of the most important and tragic moments in American history, seen through the eyes of the iconic First Lady, then Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy (Natalie Portman). Jackie places us in her world during the days immediately following her husband’s assassination. Known for her extraordinary dignity and poise, here we see a psychological portrait of the First Lady as she struggles to maintain her husband’s legacy and the world of ā€œCamelotā€ that they created and loved so well.

This project has been on the cards for a while now, back in 2010 it was originally Darren Aronofsky  with Rachael Weisz playing the titular role. Over time it has changed to Larrain( NO, The Club) with Portman in the lead role and reading those early festival  reviews it seems to have worked out perfectly. It’s a difficult story  to deliver, however, Larrain is no stranger to the darkest depths of human emotion and looks to capture the sadness, fears, mourning with deft precision. Amazingly this looks more straight forward approach as well as been more a portrait of Jackie Kennedy than a biopic. What’s evening more amazing about this, is the score from Micah Levi who created the haunting Under The Skin score.

This trailer is actually the American version and at this stage, Jackie doesn’t have a UK&Irish release date. Fox Searchlight are handling the USA release which is 2nd December. The film also stars Billy Crudup, Peter Sarsgaard, Greta Gerwig, John Hurt, Richard E. Grant, and John Carroll Lynch.
