R.I.P.D First Trailer Arrives! Starring Ryan Reynolds, Jeff Bridges

So you think because your dead now ,you can escape? Think again because the greatest ever lawmen to ever live and died are coming for you, watch first trailer for R.I.P.D
Now if you’ve been on the film summer blockbuster radar you’ll be wondering where this one crept in from R.I.P.D is based on a Dark House Comics book of the same name and stars Ryan Reynolds a young cop Nick Walker killed on duty who finds himself into duty again in the Afterlife for R.I.P.D- Rest In Peace Department. The task of the department is to govern those ghost, ghouls and creepy dead not interfering with the human world and by helping them out Nick can solve his own murder with the of old deadtimer gunslinger Roy Pulsipher (Jeff Bridges) to guide to Hell and back again.
When we say we hadn’t heard of this was a slight lie, as we did know about it at casting stage but after that it did disappear until now and looking at the evidence of the trailer we have a potentially fun film on our hands. The Men In Black feel to R.I.P.D is the obvious here with a slice of Hellboy, even Ghostbusters too, and if director Robert Schwentke can keep a distance between those mention films and offer something a little different too we have a possible sleeper hit on the cards. The jokes are corny, the special effects look pretty solid, the on screen chemistry between Reynolds and Bridges (who like a continuation of Roster Cogburn) good too. With comic book films like Spiderman, Dark Knight, Avengers we know all about and have a certainly level of expectancy however with this film’s source been relatively unknown could work for it.
R.I.P.D is a 30th August release in UK&Ireland but 19th July USA so expect a flurry of promos coming very shortly. The film also stars Mary Louise Parker, Kevin Bacon, Marisa Miller, James Hong and Robert Knepper.
[updated 23rd April a big thanks to Universal pictures who have sent us a UK version of the trailer]
