Disney-Pixar have announced Coco 2 is in development at Pixar Animation Studios.
Disney CEO Bob Iger broke the news during The Walt Disney Company’s annual meeting of shareholders. “While the film is just in the initial stages, we know it will be full of humour, heart and adventure,” said Iger. “And we can’t wait to share more soon.”
Also revealed was the follow-up to the 2017 Academy Award®-winning feature film reunites the team behind the original film, including Oscar®-winning director Inside Out 2) will produce.
Disney and Pixar’s Coco introduced Miguel, a 12-year-old with dreams of becoming a musician despite his family’s generations-old ban on music, who ventures to the vibrant Land of the Dead to unlock the real story behind his family history. The burning question is, do we need Coco 2? A difficult question to answer but why would Miguel want to travel back to the Land Of The Dead? What relative would need to be saved or will it be Miguel himself who needs saved?
The film is in early stages and if the gossip is true 2029 might be the potential release date. Nothing has been confirmed , the original was a delightful, insightful step into Mexican culture. Is there something from that culture will be perfect for the sequel?
