Paranoia Runs In UK Trailer For Steven Soderbergh’s Kimi

What if every breath…every sound…every moment was recorded? Paranoia runs wild as Warner Bros release the unnerving UK Trailer for Steven Soderbergh’s tech thriller Kimi starring Zoe Kravitz.
The film mark’s second Digital only release with Noir thriller No Sudden Move released in late 2021. Not bad for a filmmaker who a few years ago was ‘retired’. Since his return he has created a handful of films along with a TV Show. Soderbergh has certainly embraced the new, quicker way films are released and that not every film has to be released on the big screen.
This one you could call a sci-fi thriller which reminds us a little of two Gene Hackman films: The Conversation and Enemy Of The State. A world controlled by technology, Kravitz plays an agoraphobic audio stream interpreter. She has ‘Kimi’ a voice-activated digital assistant that helps her in everyday life. The assistant records everything and during her job she overhears what she believes is a murder. However when she informs her boss, they decline to help her and prevent her telling the police.
The film follows an agoraphobic tech worker who discovers recorded evidence of a violent crime during an ordinary data stream review and tries reporting it up the chain of command at her company. Meeting with resistance and bureaucracy, she realizes that in order to get involved, she will have to do the thing she fears the most — leave her apartment.
The film also stars Byron Bowers, Jaime Camil, Erika Christensen, Derek DelGaudio, Robin Givens, Charles Halford, Devin Ratray, Jacob Vargas, and Rita Wilson.
Kimi will be released in the UK and Ireland on Digital format, with release date not announced yet. If you live in the USA, you can watch the film on HBO Max from 10th February.
