Octavia Spencer Set To Return For MA Sequel

Blumhouse have announced there’s going to be a sequel to the 2019 psychological thriller, MA. Hollywood Reporter is reporting Octavia Spencer is set to return in the titular role once again.
Tate Taylor who directed The Help which also starred Spencer directed MA. The film was originally made on a $5 million budget and raked in just over $60 million at the box office .
Octavia Spencer played loner Sue Ann, who befriends a group of local teens and lets them party in her basement. Let them drink booze with a couple of rules, don’t curse, don’t go upstairs and one person must be sober. All the kids call her ‘Ma’ and things turn into an obsession, making it an nightmare for those kids.
Blumhouse Founder/CEO Jason Blum commented “Ma has proven to be a social phenomenon since its release in 2019, with fans eagerly embracing the film and Octavia’s iconic performance as Ma. Ma likes to say ‘don’t make me drink alone,’ so we’re thrilled Octavia will us again for a second round,”.
The film is still in early stages, so there is no word on who else may star in this sequel. Same goes with potential start of production and who may direct the new film.
