New Japan Pro Wrestling’s biggest event of the year: Wrestle Kingdom. 2018 started with a bang, as Wrestle Kingdom 12 emulated live from the Tokyo Dome. Here are the results in brief from the show.

New Japan Rumble

Masahito Kakihara was victorious in the New Japan Rumble. Following his victory, he cut a promo in of Yoshihiro Takayama, who was paralyzed after a horrific accident last year.

Main Show Card

Young Bucks def. Roppongi 3K to win IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Championships

Once again, the Young Bucks are IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champions. Nick Jackson picked up the win for the Bucks, after submitting Yoh.

Chaos (Beretta, Tomohiro Ishii and Toru Yano) win the Gauntlet match for the Never Openweight 6-man Tag Team Championships

Defeating NJPW’s loaded tag team division, Chaos prevail and walk away with the gold. Beretta pinned Tonga from the Bullet Club, to win it for Chaos.

Kota Ibushi def. Cody

Originally scheduled for the ROH World Champion, it was now a non-title match, as Cody lost the title to Dalton Castle. None the less, it was a great match between the two. Kota hit Cody with a phoenix splash to pick up the win.

LIJ (Evil and Sanada) def. Killer Elite Squad to win the IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Championships

The winners of the 2017 World Tag League, Evil and Sanada are now on top of the NJPW tag team division. Sanada hit a moonsault on Davey Boy Smith at the finish.

Hair VS Hair match, Hirooki Goto def. Minoru Suzuki to win the Never Openweight Championship

Hirooki Goto defeated Minoru Suzuki, to become the new Never Openweight Championship. Following Goto’s victory, Suzuki was forced to shave his head bald.

Will Ospreay def. Marty Scrull, Kushida & Hiromu Takahashi to win the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship

Will Ospreay regains the IWGP Junior Heavyeight Championship, after defeating the best of the division. Ospreay pinned Scrull to win back the title.

No DQ Match, Kenny Omega def. Chris Jericho to retain the IWGP United States Championship

The most anticipated match of the night did not disappoint. Kenny Omega defeated Y2J to retain the IWGP US champion, after hitting Jericho with a one-winged angel onto a chair.

Kazuchika Okada def. Tetsuya Naito to retain the IWGP Heavyweight Championship

The unstoppable reign of Kazuchika Okada goes on, as he defeated Tetsuya Naito to retain the IWGP Heavyweigt Championship in the main event. Okada hit Naito with the rainmaker to retain. The potentially most dominant world championship reign in professional wrestling history.
