2016 has been ‘epic’ when it comes to remakes, reboots of classic films. We have to say we are a little sceptical when  another film arrives especially those like Ben-Hur which come with great history finds itself coming back to our cinema screens. From the film’s trailer and previous promos the action might be more of the star this time Paramount want to remind us it’s still an epic tale that must be re-told. In the latest short featurette Jack Huston and Morgan Freeman discuss the dramatic and epic story behind the film Ben-Hur.

Ben-Hur is the epic story of Judah Ben-Hur (Jack Huston), a prince falsely accused of treason by his adopted brother Messala (Toby Kebbell), an officer in the Roman army. Stripped of his title, separated from his family and the woman he loves (Nazanin Boniadi), Judah is forced into slavery. After years at sea, Judah returns to his homeland to seek revenge, but finds redemption. Based on Lew Wallace’s timeless novel, Ben-Hur: A Tale of the Christ.

Whatever we think of these constant remakes and the effect on originality in film, there still part of what we can expect to see in cinemas for the meantime. They bring awesome stories to a new generation who will hopefully be encouraged to search for the original classic versions and start to appreciate what wonderful films that have gone before us. The last promo showcased the fact the myth that all modern day films are 100% CGI induced which it showed the mechanics of one of the original’s greatest scenes the Chariot Race was as organic as they could psychically be. However hard some may try to convince us in a need to remake those films regarded as the greatest sometimes sticking to the original is the best way to respect them. We’re not saying though this won’t be a bad film just difficult to take it seriously.

Ben-Hur is set for 26th August UK release date. The film also stars Morgan Freeman, Rodrigo Santoro Sofia Black D’Elia, Ayelet Zurer, Moisés Arias, Marwan Kenzari and Pilou Asbæk.
