New Danny Boyle Trailer YESTERDAY Released

Imagine a world where The Beatles never existed. No Hey Jude, no Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band. Well, that’s exactly what Jack Malik wakes up to in Danny Boyle’s new film Yesterday.  As if the Oscar-winning director didn’t have enough on his plate with the new Bond 2025, Boyle’s managed to squeeze in this indie-drama, scheduled for release on June 28th by Universal.

Teaming up with screenwriter Richard Curtis (Notting Hill, 1999), the two have devised a world where the legendary pop band ceased to exist. Except in the memory of a wanna-be singer…convenient, right?  Curtis’s artistic influence is certainly apparent in our first look, as the trailer bursts with the same heart-warming quality of 2003’s Love Actually.  In the same way Beatlemania brought ion and excitement to the 1960’s youth, the trailer for Yesterday rings with energy. Even a few minuets of it is enough to make you dance.

A guaranteed crowd-pleaser, Boyle’s uncharacteristic take on light-hearted humour seems to be the potential hit of the summer.  Yesterday stars Himesh Patel alongside Lily James, Kate McKinnon and Joel Fry.  Not to mention special guest stars Ed Sheeran and James Corden. But will the musical hype live up to both Boyle’s and The Beatles reputation? We’ll have to wait and see.

Yesterday will be released in UK and Irish Cinemas from 28th June.

Yesterday, everyone knew The Beatles. Today, only Jack re their songs. He’s about to become a very big deal. Jack Malik (Himesh Patel, BBC’s Eastenders) is a struggling singer-songwriter in a tiny English seaside town whose dreams of fame are rapidly fading, despite the fierce devotion and of his childhood best friend, Ellie (Lily James, Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again). Then, after a freak bus accident during a mysterious global blackout, Jack wakes up to discover that The Beatles have never existed … and he finds himself with a very complicated problem, indeed.
