When it comes to the major awards in film March is the most important month. One of the big contenders is  Ryusuke Hamaguchi‘s Drive My Car. The critically-acclaimed film may have had it’s cinematic run, next month boutique streaming service MUBI will exclusively stream the film in UK and Ireland.

The film made it’s world premiere at 2021 Cannes Film Festival, It has since been selected as Japan’s official entry for Best International Feature Film at the 94th Academy Awards®, and has been nominated for four Academy Awards® (Best Picture, Director, International Feature Film and Adapted Screenplay) and three BAFTA Film Awards (Director, Film Not in English Language and Adapted Screenplay).

Unfortunately we missed the UK Theatrical release, fortunately we did catch his follow up film Wheel Of Fortune And Fantasy. Drive My Car is a film of love, loss, acceptance, peace, and with the film being a Haruki Murakami story it’s certainly worth a look.
