MUBI Drops New Trailer For Rebecca Lenkiewicz’s Hot Milk

streaming service and distributor MUBI have dropped the official Trailer for Rebecca Lenkiewicz’s Hot Milk.
The film stars Emma Mackey, Fiona Shaw and Vicky Krieps, based on Deborah Levy’s book of the same name. All about a mother / daughter who head to Southern Spain for a holiday and their relationship is tested thanks to a mysterious free spirited traveller.
Hot Milk played at this year’s BFI Flare, and Freda Cooper watched it for The Peoples Movies. Freda commented “While the three actors at the heart of Hot Milk are certainly its biggest attraction, the unreliable script only allows two of them to unleash their talents, leaving the audience feeling unsatisfied and more than a little baffled. Sadly, it’s more tepid than hot“. The film also stars Vincent Perez (Alone in Berlin, Boléro) Yann Gael (Gladiator II, 1899) and Patsy Ferran (Mickey 17, Firebrand).

Set in the scorching heat of a Spanish summer, Sofia (Emma Mackey) and her ailing mother, Rose (Fiona Shaw), travel to the seaside town of Almería to seek the help of Dr. Gómez (Vincent Perez), an enigmatic healer who may hold the key to Rose’s mysterious illness. As long-buried tensions simmer between them, Sofia finds herself drawn to the magnetic and free-spirited Ingrid (Vicky Krieps). But as the sun beats down, Sofia’s growing independence and search for freedom become too much for her controlling mother, forcing her to question the true nature of Rose’s illness. Secrets, lies, and revelations emerge, leading Sofia to doors that might be best left unopened.
Featuring layered and compelling performances from the central cast, Hot Milk is a vivid and evocative look at liberation and longing.
Hot Milk will be released in UK and Irish cinemas from 4th July.
