Morbius and Ghostbusters: Afterlife Release Delayed By Sony Pictures

Sadly with Coronavirus end in sight for now, this new comes with no surprise. If anything itâs logical, as Sony Pictures delay the release of Morbius and Ghostbusters: Afterlife.
Sony Pictures like many other film studios/distributors are constantly rescheduling their slates. The news sees two of their big tentpole films getting a 2021 release dates. When the pandemic was in itâs early stages people were shocked that Fast & Furious 9 delayed there release to 2021, now it looks sensible.
Thanks to the box office success of Venom, Morbius film has come to life. The film is the second spin off from Spider-Man franchise with Tom Holland. Jared Leto stars as our enigmatic antihero, Michael Morbius. Dangerously ill with a rare blood disorder, and determined to save others suffering his same fate, Dr Morbius attempts a desperate gamble. What at first appears to be a radical success soon reveals itself to be a remedy potentially worse than the disease.
Morbius was set for an 31st July 2020 release and now it will be 19th March 2021.

Ghostbusters: Afterlife starring Paul Rudd, whose UK release wasnât officially confirmed now got an 5th March 2021. The film has taken over the release spot for Uncharted. The film thatâs been based around the popular video has now been given a new release slate of 8th October 2021.
Virtually most if not all of Sonyâs slate has been changed. Those Sony Films already changed before today such as Peter Rabbit 2, was given a Summer 2020 UK release. The U.S release date 15th January 2021, expect the UK release to be similar. Tom Hanks Greyhound which had a 26th June release has been given a to be confirmed release date.
There is also a Sony/Marvel untitled project which we believe will be Venom 2, date has changed. The original date was to be 8th October and now like Greyhound has now been undated. If this film is Venom 2, could this film be released late 2021 or even 2022?
Todayâs news comes at no surprise and the broadest changes by a studio. With the virus so unpredictable, itâs hard to say when life will get back to any normality. Could these dates change again? Possibly. 2021 is certainly turning into fascinating but jam packed 2021 for cinephiles!.
