Oscar Winner Mikey Madison Eyed For Lead Of Zach Cregger’s Resident Evil Reboot

Oscar Winner Mikey Madison, who won for her performance in last year’s Anora, is reportedly being eyed up for the lead in a big reboot that could be her first role since her winning night.
World of Reel is reporting that Madison is being eyed to take the lead role in the new Resident Evil reboot which is going to be directed by Zach Cregger, director of Barbarian. Austin Abrams (Wolfs) has already been signed up to star in the film. No word yet on what role Madison would be up for, but it seems she might be the front runner.
Aside from Anora, Madison starred in 2022’s re-quel Scream as well as featuring in Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon A Time In Hollywood. If she accepts, it would be a big first role post-Oscar win with a director who is in high demand. Production is set to get underway later this year.
The site reports that the new reboot “is rumored to follow a hapless courier (Abrams) tasked with delivering a package to a remote hospital. He soon finds himself caught in the middle of an outbreak and must fight through hordes of mutated creatures to survive.”
Cregger’s next film, Weapons, which stars Josh Brolin, Julia Garner, Alden Ehrenreich, Benedict Wong, Austin Abrams, Amy Madigan, June Diane Raphael, Cary Christopher, and Clayton Farris and is set to debut next January.
Resident Evil is set for release on September 18th, 2026.
