Michael B. Jordan’s The Thomas Crown Affair Reimagining Casts Taylor Russell

Taylor Russell set for The Thomas Crown Affair

After a lengthy audition process that seemingly had a few female acting candidates, it seems Michael B. Jordan has found his leading lady for his next film, a reimagining of The Thomas Crown Affair, reports Deadline.

His choice: Taylor Russell, star of Waves, Bones and All and Escape Room, who has landed the much-coveted role alongside Jordan for the new film, with the Creed star to also direct the film as well as star. He will produce the film via his production banner Outlier Society alongside Elizabeth Raposo. Drew Pearce (The Fall Guy) has written the script from a previous draft by Wes Tooke and Justin Britt-Gibson.

The previous two Thomas Crown Affair films were both hugely successful: the first, released in 1968, starred Steve McQueen and Faye Dunaway, the latter becoming an overnight sensation. Then, thirty-one years later, Pierce Brosnan starred alongside Rene Russo with Die Hard helmer John McTiernan at the helm.

Russell went through a long casting process that included meetings, auditions and ultimately a screen test with Jordan in London at the top of the year. That final test sealed the deal and Russell is now set to Jordan this summer in London to start production.

No release date has yet been set for the new film.
