Matthew McConaughey Is A Failing Dad In White Boy Rick Trailer

After his career-saving performance in Dallas Buyers Club, Matthew McConaughey‘s career spiked in success. Things have taken a slight dip after a few disappointing films, White Boy Rick may just get things going upwards.
When it comes to dramatic true stories, McConaughey is one of the best actors to rely on to deliver the goods. This film we head back to 1980s Detroit he plays a failing father, who with his son becomes a police informant. Soon becoming a drug dealer and a life that spirals out of control.
Sony Pictures Releasing has sent us the first UK Trailer, check it out…
Sadly any town or city in the world, we find families struggling to make ends meet and put food on the table. Crime is a quick route out of a financial crisis and when you’re at the bottom like Richard Wershe Sr, you don’t think of the consequences. You don’t expect your boy (Richie Merritt) to be a Hustler. Dealer. Kingpin. Informant!
It looks a unique spin on the father-son story intertwined with something that destroys families, drugs. Poverty is always around the corner and its something that resonates even here in the UK with Conservative government’s barbaric austerity. Yann Demange ’71 was an underrated film that opened a lot of doors for the French director. Here’s hoping this film is one of those better choices!
Set in 1980s Detroit at the height of the crack epidemic and the War on Drugs, WHITE BOY RICK is based on the moving true story of a blue-collar father and his teenage son, Rick Wershe Jr., who became an undercover police informant and later a drug dealer, before he was abandoned by his handlers and sentenced to life in prison.
The film also stars Bel Powley, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Brian Tyree Henry, Rory Cochrane, RJ Cyler, Jonathan Majors, Eddie Marsan With Bruce Dern And Piper Laurie.
White Boy Rick will arrive in UK and Irish Cinemas from December 7th.
