Blumhouse has revealed the first Trailer for their sci-fi thriller Upgrade from Leigh Whannell (Saw, Insidious). Starring Logan Marshall-Green (Tom Hardy’s doppelganger) as grieving husband who wants revenge for his murdered wife. He has one problem he was paralysed, but he’s no man, he’s no robot too!
Check out the trailer below, which is a no hold barred Red Band Trailer which shows our vengeful husband is now an unstoppable killing machine! It’s pulpy, violent, If you this is too graphic, below that is the Green Band version of the trailer.
“UPGRADE is a thrilling and hyper-violent vision of the future from the producers of GET OUT and THE PURGE, and the creator of SAW and INSIDIOUS.
After his wife is killed during a brutal mugging that also leaves him paralyzed, Grey Trace (Logan Marshall-Green, SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING, PROMETHEUS) is approached by a billionaire inventor with an experimental cure that will “upgrade” his body. The cure – an Artificial Intelligence implant called STEM – gives Grey physical abilities beyond anything experienced and the ability to relentlessly claim vengeance against those who murdered his wife and left him for dead.”
This film is part of Blumhouse new spin-off label BH Tilt which lets them expand into other genres like sci-fi.The film played at last month’s SXSW Midnight strand, winning the audience award with plenty of positive solid reviews.
Taking in technology, blending it with sci-fi, it’s opened many doors in what directions this can go. Its obvious Trace is been controlled which plays on peoples fears of current technology. It’s action-packed, a little cheeky, darkly comedic, could Blumhouse have another sleeper hit on the cards?
As this trailer is the American Trailer, there is no word on when this will be released in the UK and Ireland. Upgrade will be released in the USA on 1st June.
The film also stars Rosco Campbell, Richard Cawthorne, Betty Gabriel, and Michael M. Foster.
