Young boy gets ready for crane kick in The Karate Kid: Legends

The Karate Kid franchise next Spring will be returning to the big screen with Karate Kid: Legends. Sony Pictures Releasing have released the First UK Trailer which legends unite Ralph Macchio and Jackie Chan.

41 years after the first film we will get a chance to watch the 6th film. In between those films we’ve had a animation series plus Cobra Kai which is ending with 6th season. The latest film sees the original Karate Kid, Daniel LaRusso and 2010 version Mr Han returning.

In Karate Kid: Legends young boy Li Fong (Chan). The boy is about to be entered into competition, Mr Han enlists the help of Daniel (Macchio)to learn a new way to fight.

With the popularity of Cobra Kai could we re-vitalise the original franchise? This trailer does feel like it’s setting the film up nicely, will it be good enough to watch?

In Karate Kid: Legends, after a family tragedy, kung fu prodigy Li Fong (Ben Wang) is uprooted from his home in Beijing and forced to move to New York City with his mother. Li struggles to let go of his past as he tries to fit in with his new classmates, and although he doesn’t want to fight, trouble seems to find him everywhere. When a new friend needs his help, Li enters a karate competition – but his skills alone aren’t enough. Li’s kung fu teacher Mr. Han (Jackie Chan) enlists original Karate Kid Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) for help, and Li learns a new way to fight, merging their two styles into one for the ultimate martial arts showdown.

The film also stars Joshua Jackson, Sadie Stanley, and Ming-Na Wen. Karate Kid: Legends will be in UK, Irish and U.S cinemas from 30th May 2025.
