Kenneth Branagh's Belfast UK Trailer 'Has A Story To Tell'

For several decades we’ve watched and (hopefully) enjoyed the films Kenneth Branagh has starred in as well as directed. In November we will get a chance to watch his most personal film to date, Belfast when it’s released in UK cinemas. Universal Pictures have now released the film’s UK Trailer and everyone has a story to tell.

Described as “a poignant story of love, laughter and loss”. A story of young buddy (Jude Hill) a 10 year old boy full of hijinks, living in the turmoil and conflict of 1960’s Belfast. Shall he leave for pastures new? Buddy’s parents are played by Jamie Dornan, Caitriona Balfe with Judi Dench and Ciaran Hinds as his grandparents.

The film is due to have it’s world premiere at the weekend at Telluride Film Festival then Toronto later in the month. This looks a solid entertaining film on the cards, hopefully the emotion and humour will feel genuine. Could it be a potential awards contender?

From lauded director Kenneth Branagh, and starring an acclaimed ensemble cast, Belfast is a personal and joyful story about the power of memory, set in late 1960s Northern Ireland. At the centre of the film is Buddy, a young boy on the cusp of adolescence, whose life is filled with familial love, childhood hijinks, and a blossoming romance. Yet, with his beloved hometown caught up in increasing turmoil, his family faces a momentous choice: hope the conflict will or leave everything they know behind for a new life.
