Josh O’Connor Speaks Again About James Bond Rumours

Could Josh O'Connor be the new 007?

The search for the next James Bond continues to dominate headlines, with Josh O’Connor recently addressing the speculation that he might step into the iconic role. While rumours about his potential casting have gained traction, O’Connor clarified his stance in a recent interview with Deadline whilst promoting his new film Rebuilding at Sundance.

When asked about the possibility of playing the legendary spy, O’Connor revealed that he’s just as in the dark as anyone else. “I have no thoughts, really,” he said. “The truth is that … I think in the space of a week, I made a joke about, wouldn’t it be funny if I played Bond? Then, me and Daniel [Craig] did an Actors on Actors, and then something else happened, and then suddenly I was James Bond. If I am Bond, I don’t know about it.”

The actor’s light-hearted remarks stemmed from his joke about playing Bond, which quickly sparked speculation among fans and media outlets. However, as of now, there’s no confirmation on who will succeed Daniel Craig, who last portrayed the character in 2021’s No Time to Die, as well as Spectre, Skyfall, Quantum of Solace, and Casino Royale.

For nearly four years, speculation has swirled around potential candidates for the role, with names like Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Cosmo Jarvis, and James Norton also being suggested. Despite the ongoing buzz, producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson have remained tight-lipped about their plans for the future of the franchise.
