Today Netflix has released the filmâs Official Trailer, a story of a retired naturalist/ Wolf expert (Wright) hunts a wolf pack with help of the childâs mother. But when the father returns from Iraq War things go south sparking a violent chain of events.
If youâve seen Blue Ruin or Green Room Saulnier doesnât hold back on anything. Despite the change of film type, this one resonates in tone with his previous films. Dark, twisted, unsettling, creepy and very unsettling, thereâs more going on behind the basic plot synopsis.
Fans of Saulnier will love this and this may be on Netflix, itâs sure heâll win a host of new fans. With Roma, Outlaw King, Netflix has an impressive line up to look forward to!

Retired naturalist and wolf expert Russell Core (JEFFREY WRIGHT) journeys to the edge of civilization in northern Alaska at the pleading of Medora Slone (RILEY KEOUGH), a young mother whose son was killed by a pack of wolves. As Core attempts to help Medora track down the wolves who took her son, a strange and dangerous relationship develops between the two lonely souls.
But when Medoraâs husband Vernon (ALEXANDER SKARSGARD) returns home from the Iraq War, the news of his childâs death ignites a violent chain of events. As local cop, Donald Marium (JAMES BADGE DALE), races to stop Vernonâs vengeful rampage, Core is forced on a perilous odyssey into the heart of darkness.
Hold The Dark will be released globally on Netflix including the UK and Ireland from 28th September. The film will also make itâs World Premiere at next monthâs Toronto Film Festival too.
