J.J Abrams To Take On Live-Action Adaptation of ‘Your Name’

Earning a whopping $355.3M worldwide when it was released in 2016, Japanese sensation ‘Star Trek: Into Darkness‘) is set to take on a live-action adaptation of the massively popular anime for Paramount Pictures and Bad Robot. Abrams and Lindsey Weber will produce the adaptation alongside Genki Kawamura, producer of the original film. Academy Award®-nominated screenwriter Eric Heisserer (‘Arrival’) will write the screenplay.

Your Name is an original story written and directed by acclaimed director Makoto Shinkai (‘5 Centimetres Per Second’, ‘The Garden of Words’) that tells the story of a young boy and girl from different backgrounds who find they have the ability to swap bodies, but also find that they are separated by time and space.

There is currently no word on when we can expect this live-action adaptation, but in the meantime you can expect a DVD & Blu-Ray release of the original on November 7th.
