‘It’s Raining Men’ At The European Premiere of MAGIC MIKE

Here in UK&Ireland the rain has been bringing misery with our so called Summer been a wash out. In London last night it was raining again but raining men as  Channing Tatum and Matthew McConaughey attended the European Premiere of MAGIC MIKE last night in Mayfair, London.

From incomparable director Steven Soderbergh (Ocean’s 11, 12, 13; Traffic), comes this generation’s Saturday Night Fever, starring Channing Tatum (Dear John, GI Joe, Step Up), Alex Pettyfer (I Am Number Four) and Matthew McConaughey (Ghosts of Girlfriends Past, Fool’s Gold).

To a rebellious 19-year-old kid (Pettyfer) looking for independence from his family, Magic Mike (Tatum) seems like the perfect role model: he’s got a nice car, a nice apartment, and a seemingly endless supply of women. What’s his secret? He’s a male stripper, and when the kid dives headlong into Magic Mike’s world, his mad dancing skills and hunger for excitement make for an unforgettable summer…

Sexy, funny and shocking, this film is a hedonistic thrill ride with a powerful undertow. A razor-sharp cast– led by top-liner Channing Tatum in a career-defining turn as the titular Magic Mike – devours the up-to the moment freight train of a script, and the result will be relentlessly entertaining and sure to be one of the most talked about films of the year…and let’s not forget the price-of-ission dancing sequences…

As a special treat for the (female) guests a special performance by UK-based male strippers, The Dream Idols, which I’m sure the male friends, husbands and boyfriends would have appreciated as their other half screams her heart out!

The film is n’t out in the UK&Ireland until this Friday but the film is already out Stateside where it’s made an amazing $77million at the box office which in box office returns may not sound a lot however Magic Mike only cost $7million to be made! Which usually stirs talk of a sequel and earlier this week Channing Tatum teased Glamour Magazine followers on Twitter in a Q&A for the magazine that a sequel is in the works.  “Yes, yes and yes! We’re working on the concept now. We want to flip the script and make it bigger.”  I’m sure some of the female population will be wondering what do you mean ‘Bigger’? (wash your mouth out with soap young lady! naughty!) . Will Steven Soderbergh return to direct whose has had more retirement announcements than Imelda Marcos has had pairs of shoes, will it be 3D?

Before that project can kick off Channing Tatum will put some clothes on dawn a stars and stripes and helmet jump over loads of things breaking bones as he’s to star and produce a film about the infamous Evel Knievel. The film is about the notorious bike stuntman who over a 15 year period who used to jump over buses, cars ramp to ramp however he holds the Guinness Book of World Records holder for most bones broken in a lifetime  (433!). The film will be co produced with his writing/producing partner Reid Carolin (who co-scripted Magic Mike) for Colombia Pictures under his Ironhorse Entertainment company who will also be producing the film version of  Fifty Shades Of Grey.

Andrew this week caught a preview of Magic Mike(read his review), yes a man reviewed it which made Emily and Sophie at The Peoples Movies HQ extremely jealous, don’t worry girls only a few days to go until you can come ‘lawbreakers!’ Magic Mike is out in UK&Ireland July 13th.
