The burning question is Tigers a Horror? Yes and No. More a horror fantasy fairy tale set in the backdrop of the devastating Mexican Drug Wars. The film follow five children attempting to survive the horrors of the cartel wars and the ghosts the wars create.
Alongside the rave reviews, the film has gained 3 high profile fans, Stephen King, Guillermo del Toro and Neil Gaiman. Can’t get any bigger in horror and fantasy! Del Toro is that big of an fan of Kopez’s work he’s agreed to executive produce her future film projects!
In 2018 FrightFest Glasgow. The show went on be it with very few people treated to one of the best films Issa López’s masterful film. Ever since that missed opportunity we’ve just been hearing great things about the film, now Shudder has answered our prayers.
It won’t be an easy watch. But it looks an intriguing, evocative, grim tale we must see!
A haunting horror fairytale set against the backdrop of Mexico’s devastating drug wars, Tigers Are Not Afraid follows a group of orphaned children armed with three magical wishes, running from the ghosts that haunt them and the cartel that murdered their parents. Filmmaker Issa López creates a world that recalls the early films of Guillermo del Toro, imbued with her own gritty urban spin on magical realism to conjure a wholly unique experience that audiences will not soon forget.
We believe Shudder runs a similar way to Netflix, meaning new films are international released. If so Tigers Are Not Afraid will late (23rd) August/Early September.
