Is Daniel Craig The Reason Why There’s No The Girl Who Played With Fire?

Have you ever wondered why David Fincher’s The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo remake sequel The Girl Who Played with Fire hasn’t been made yet ? There will always be the argument that the film was remade too soon after the original but most of all a pointless movie. Despite the fact it made $232 million worldwide from the box office the film is regarded as a mediocre success simply due to the fact the film was an 18 certificate. Despite it’s misgivings the film has made enough money to merit a sequel but the question is when will that arrive? Sony expected by end of this year into 2014 the film would arrive however when it does come it maybe without one of it’s main stars, Daniel Craig.
THR are reporting before any new film is made the $90 budget for previous film will have to be drastically cut and one way getting around this is by writing out Craig’s character Mikael Blomkvist. This may not sound as bad as you think as this film Blomkvist rarely appears in The Girl Who Played With Fire however , Daniel Craig is demanding a pay rise plus Sony are reluctant to splash more cash on Steve Zaillian to re-write a script that’s already regarded as ‘production ready’. Zallian will be looking for a seven figure sum again but there is a small matter of availability too as he is a writer in demand who is currently busy writing the scrip for HBO show Criminal Justice.
When you look back there’s been no one more loyal than David Fincher himself to the Girl, we’re sure he wouldn’t want to leave out such a vital character despite the minimum screen time. There is the question will David Fincher direct this film and if he’s says yes exactly when can he do it? Fincher recently signed up to adapt Gone Girl but that’s a long way away from even a script been developed which means 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea maybe the films main stumbling block, but he can’t decide a budget.
Daniel Craig‘s own schedule may delays things as well as after the success of Skyfall he has signed up for 2 more Bond films one we expect to start filming by the end of this year.If this is the case it could mean The Girl Who Played With Fire may start filming sometime 2014.So the truth of the matter is everything is still up in the air, so the wait continues.
