Ingrid Goes West UK Trailer Aubrey Plaza Becomes A Social Media Stalker

To many people, there is only one life that’s the one we live in the real world not online, to the millennial generation or those in the know, there is life online too. In Ingrid Goes West Aubrey Plaza loves that life, she’s obsessed with that life. That fixated she stalks her Social Media Hero (Elizabeth Olsen)#Stalkeralert, watch the International (UK) Trailer and see her follow you…literally!
This movie is another darling of the Sundance Film Festival, winning plaudits (including the winning of the Waldo Salt Screenwriting Award). What does stand out with this trailer is it looks very hip but also darkly funny jumping onboard the fixation of social media stardom.Lacking self-control, wanting to know every little detail, a cautionary tale. There’s nothing wrong with getting inspiration to inspire your life, but some of these social media stars many are not what you would call the type of ‘celebs’ to inspire. It gets really unsettling when you see many people walking around the streets, sitting in cinema screens head in their mobile phones. Reality and fiction lines disappear and the movie targets that which made this movie a big hit on the festival circuit.
Ingrid Goes West follows Ingrid Thorburn (Plaza) a mentally unstable young woman who becomes obsessed with Taylor Sloane (Olsen), a social media “influencer” with a seemingly-perfect life. When Ingrid decides to drop everything, and move to the West Coast to befriend Taylor in real life, her behavior turns unsettling and increasingly dangerous.
Ingrid Goes West will be release in the UK and Irish Cinemas from 17th November. The movie also starring O’Shea Jackson, Wyatt Russell and Billy Magnussen with Matt Spicer directing.
Before then the movie will receive its UK premiere at the BFI London Film Festival on Saturday 7th October at Picturehouse Central with additional screenings on Sunday 8th and Saturday 14th October. For more information and to book tickets visit bfi.org.uk/lff.
