‘The Devil Is In The Retail’ as Sony Pictures release the First (UK) Trailer for Greed.
Michael Winterbottom’s latest satire comedy stars Steve Coogan as King of The High Street fashion Mogul, Sir Richard McCreadie. Eagle eyed people will recognised it’s inspired by Self-made billionaire Phillip Green. The man behind Topshop, Topman and the controversial collapse of BHS, which saw the workforce lose their pensions.
Greed tells the story of Sir Richard (Coogan), whose retail empire is in crisis. After a damaging public enquiry, his image has been tarnished. To save his reputation he hosts an extravagant Birthday party on the island of Mykonos.
From the trailer and the early reviews, Steve Coogan looks to have so much fun. Hamming up things, the fake tan and living the life of riley. As well as been a grotesque example of humanity. Looks fun!
GREED tells the story of self-made British billionaire Sir Richard McCreadie (Steve Coogan), whose retail empire is in crisis. For 30 years he has ruled the world of retail fashion – bringing the high street to the catwalk and the catwalk to the high street – but after a damaging public inquiry, his image is tarnished. To save his reputation, he decides to bounce back with a highly publicised and extravagant party celebrating his 60th birthday on the Greek island of Mykonos. A satire on the grotesque inequality of wealth in the fashion industry, the film sees McCreadie’s rise and fall through the eyes of his biographer, Nick (David Mitchell).
The film features an all-star cast including Isla Fisher, David Mitchell, Asa Butterfield, Sophie Cookson, Dinita Gohil, Jamie Blackley, Shanina Shaik, Tim Key, Sarah Solemani, Asim Chaudhry, Ollie Locke, Pearl Mackie, Jonny Sweet, Shirley Henderson and Stephen Fry.
GREED will be released in cinemas across the UK & Ireland on Friday, 21st February 2020.
