September is only days away and NYX UK are getting into a celebratory mode with a big Happy Birthday to Dario Argento. It’s not all about the legendary Italian shock master, eight terrifying primetime channel premiere await us next month.

Those premieres includes Larry Fessenden’s Depraved (2019), his modern take of the Frankenstein story, which screens on Friday 27th September, 9pm. Independent horror doesn’t get better or more stylish than this very post-modern Prometheus.

There are also two unmissable documentaries – Woodlands Dark And Days Bewitched (2021) (Thursday 26th September, 9pm), which explores the folk horror phenomenon from its beginnings through its proliferation on British television in the 1970s and its culturally specific manifestations in American, Asian, Australian and European horror. Plus, on Thursday 19th September, 9pm, there is The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Shocking Truth (2000), David Gregory’s compelling take on the making of the 1974 horror classic The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

A slice of twisted supernatural horror comes in the shape Mercy Black (2019). From the producers behind Insidious which has its Channel premiere on Friday 20th September, 9pm. Audrey Cummings Canadian horror-comedy She Never Died showing at 9pm on Tuesday 3rd September, serving as a companion piece to the 2015 film He Never Died. Then on Thursday 12th September, 9pm is Bryan Norton and Jesse Baget’s gripping anthology All Hallow’s Eve 2 (2015).

Other first-time showings include graphic horror The Chair (2016), based on the comic book mini-series from Alterna Comics (Tuesday 10th September ,9pm), and Monte Light’s biting homage to Nosferatu, Blood Covered Chocolate (2022), which is broadcast on Thursday 5th September, 9pm.

On 9th September, Italy’s most celebrated horror film maker and the King of giallo, Dario Argento celebrates his birthday. Two of his finest, most influential works, Phenomena(1985), at 9pm, followed at 11pm by Deep Red (1975)

Also NYX UK has moving from Freeview 289 to Freeview 271 and the other listed platforms.
