Halle Berry Addresses Rumours Of Storms Return For Avengers: Doomsday

Whilst attending this year’s CinemaCon, Halle Berry shared an update with Black Girl Nerds (via ComingSoon) on the recent speculation of her return to the character of Storm for Avengers: Doomsday. Some of the cast for the movie was revealed a few days ago, which included MCU characters such as Thor, The Fantastic Four, Ant-Man and the surprise return of some key cast from the original X-Men movies.

Berry was at CinemaCon for her movie Crime 101, also starring Chris Hemsworth. When talking with a reporter from Black Girl Nerds about the possibility of seeing her name appear in any future Avengers: Doomsday announcements, Berry simply replied, “Keep waiting. It’s not going to be there.”

Rumours of Berry’s return to the role began circulating online after a report from SuperHeroHype, noted that industry scooper MyTimeToShineHello claimed that she was going to appear in the movie. The report came days after the initial casting announcement was revealed by Marvel in a nearly 6-hour livestream event.

This response from the actress has left fans a bit disappointed as Storm is such a beloved, fan-favourite character. However, this could all be an elaborate ruse to hide it, similarly to what actors such as Andrew Garfield and Tatiana Maslany have previosuly had to do around their respective MCU projects. Whilst at CinemaCon 2025, Kevin Feige stated that the cast of Avengers: Doomsday is incomplete with more actors to be announced in due course.

Berry last appeared in the role back in 2014’s X-Men: Days of Future Past. The rumours of her return first started in the lead up to last year’s Deadpool & Wolverine, which teased the return of many characters previously seen in the Fox X-Men movies. When talking to ComicBook.com in August 2024, Berry revealed, “Blake [Lively] asked me one time, I ran into her at a Marc Jacobs fashion show, she said, ‘Would you ever be in my husband’s movie as Storm?’ I said, ‘Yeah, if he asked me,’ but he never asked me.”
