Gugu Mbatha-Raw To Star In Sky Original Thriller Inheritance

Sky have announced Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Jonny Lee Miller, Bel Powley and Sheldon Shepherd are set to star in their new Sky Original thriller Inheritance.

The series from acclaimed writer and actor Karla Crome (Am I Being Unreasonable, Carnival Row), which is set in Bristol, UK, and Jamaica which is a five-part limited event series directed by Storm Saulter (Better Mus’ Come, Sprinter) and produced by Snowed-In Productions in association with Sky Studios.

This is described  as an ambitious genre-bending series that boldly confronts the enduring legacy of colonialism, marrying shadowy intrigue with the pulsating energy of the Caribbean.

In Inheritance, Mbatha-Raw is Claudia, an ambitious young bi-racial lawyer, embarks on a journey to Jamaica to challenge an inheritance claim filed by an unknown local resident, Cudjoe East (Shepherd), against Oliver Connaught (Lee-Miller), a wealthy white aristocrat. Her quest takes an unexpected turn when the contested estate reveals the ominous house that has haunted her nightmares: the Connaught family’s Jamaican plantation, Hope Hill. As Claudia and Oliver investigate, they uncover a chilling connection between historical horrors and present-day injustices.

The series also stars Nadean Rawlins (Bob Marley: One Love, Sprinter) as Mercy, Sean Gilder (Mary & George, Slow Horses) as Tom McKenzie, Olunike Adeliyi (The Fire Inside, Mike) as Patsy Dawkins, Richard Dillane (Wolf Hall, The Crown) as Eugene Desfrienes, Diveen Henry (The Day of the Jackal, Manhunt) as Flora, Jack Bandeira (Happy Valley, Black Mirror) as Kenneth Connaught and Shantol Jackson (Death in Paradise, Yardie) as Sarah.
