Alex Kurtzman might be a name that is familiar with with script writing especially with the big loud blockbusters such as Transformers, Cowboys&Aliens,Star Trek and probably alot of JJ Abrams tv programmes. This summer Kurtzman has taken the big step from behind the desk to behind the camera when he makes his directorial debut with PEOPLE LIKE US, check out the trailer below.
A big well known cast has been assembled with Captain James Tiberius Kirk , Effie Trinket from The Hunger Games or better know as Chris Pine and Elizabeth Banks there ed by Olivia Wilde, Michelle Pfeiffer, Mark Duplass and Jon Favreau. People Like Us tells the story of a man (Pine) who inherits $150,000 (£100,000) after his father dies however he must give the money to a woman he has never met but learns is his half sister a revelation that turns his life upside down.
People Like Us is certainly a big change in direction for Kurtzman not just been behind the camera but film genre but he has a few old friends around to help including Pine, Wilde, Favreau as well was hi old writing buddy Robert Orci helping on the script. It will be a challenge for Kurtzman when it comes to character development, things do look like borderline cheesy however that character development does look like its happened but only just
People Like Us doesn’t have a UK or Irish release date but American film fans can catch this June 29th.
From DreamWorks Pictures comes ‘People Like Us,’ a drama/comedy about family, inspired by true events, starring Chris Pine (‘Star Trek’) as Sam, a twenty-something, fast-talking salesman, whose latest deal collapses on the day he learns that his father has suddenly died. Against his wishes, Sam is called home, where he must put his father’s estate in order and reconnect with his estranged family. In the course of fulfilling his father’s last wishes, Sam uncovers a startling secret that turns his entire world upside down: He has a 30-year-old sister Frankie whom he never knew about (Elizabeth Banks). As their relationship develops, Sam is forced to rethink everything he thought he knew about this family–and re-examine his own life choices in the process.
