George Miller’s Three Thousand Years of Longing ‘Wishes’ First UK Trailer!

What would you wish for? Could that wish be a chance to see George Miller’s fantasy Three Thousand Years of Longing ? As we speak over at French Riviera, Cannes Film Festival will be premiering the latest fantasy from the Mad Max director. Tonight we get a glimpse of the official first UK Trailer from Entertainment Film, Idris Elba is ready to grant wishes, will it be to a lonely heart?

When it comes to Miller nothing is created in small scale, this looks epic. certainly dramatic in many ways and when the film has been in development for 20 plus years you expect nothing less.

Based on the short story “The Djinn in the Nightingale’s Eye” by A.S. Byatt. Scholar Dr Alithea Binnie (Tilda Swinton) is content with life heads to Istanbul for a conference. Whilst there she encounters a Djinn (Elba) who offers her three wishes for his freedom. Is he real and she is an academic on mythology, aware of the history of Djinns.

Dr Alithea Binnie (Tilda Swinton) is an academic – content with life and a creature of reason. While in Istanbul attending a conference, she happens to encounter a Djinn (Idris Elba) who offers her three wishes in exchange for
his freedom.

This presents two problems. First, she doubts that he is real and second, because she is a scholar of story and mythology, she knows all the cautionary tales of wishes gone wrong. The Djinn pleads his case by telling her fantastical stories of his past. Eventually she is beguiled and makes a wish that surprises them both.

The rest of the cast will include Aamito Lagum, Burcu Gölgedar, Matteo Bocelli, Kaan Guldur, and Alyla Browne. Entertainment Film haven’t yet announced UK or Irish release date for Three Thousand Years of Longing just yet. In the U.S MGM will be releasing the film on  31st August.
