First Trailer For The Staircase Starring Colin Firth & Toni Collette

Colin Firth a murderer? Never! Well he is and Toni Collette is his wife as well as his victim in the true crime drama, The Staircase. Here in the UK and Ireland SKY will be airing the limited series and tonight they tease us with the official Teaser Trailer.

Based on a true story, The Staircase further explores the life of Michael Peterson (played by Firth), his sprawling North Carolina family, and the suspicious death of his wife, Kathleen Peterson (Collette).

Ironically Michael Patterson was a crime novelist who was charged with his wife’s murder pushing her down the stairs. Since Michael’s trial and charge there has many theories that play on the stairs fall, was she pushed or simply fell to her death accidently" allowfullscreen>
The Staircase follows the story of Michael Peterson after the tragic death of his wife Kathleen Peterson, and the dramatic twists and turns of the consequent investigation, court case, and that iconic documentary.

The eight part limited series will also star Michael Stuhlbarg, Juliette Binoche, Parker Posey, Dane Dehaan, Olivia DeJonge, Rosemarie DeWitt, Tim Guinee, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Sophie Turner, Vincent Vermignon, and Odessa Young.

Antonio Campos (The Devil All The Time, Christine) and Maggie Cohn (Versace) are executive producers as well as showrunners. Campos also directs six episodes, with Leigh Janiak directing two episodes.

The Staircase will premiere on Sky  along with NOW in the UK and Ireland  from 5th May. Over in the U.S HBO Max will show the series, premiere date still to be announced.
