First Look At The Hunger Games: The Ballad Of Songbirds And Snakes

In 2023 we will return to Panem with The Hunger Games: The Ballad Of Songbirds And Snakes. Today we get a first look at that The Hunger Games prequel and a certain tyrant called Coriolanus Snow as a young man!

The film will be based on Suzanne Collin’s The Ballad Of Songbirds and Snakes. Released in 2020 and stars Tom Blyth as Snow with Rachel Zegler, Peter Dinklage, Hunter Schafer, Josh Andrés Rivera, Jason Schwartzman, and Viola Davis. Francis Lawrence is also back in the franchise directing this one.

Donald Sutherland played Snow in The Hunger Games. In this version Snow is 18 years old with the film set 64 years earlier. We are in Panem prior the first games, an young man finding his feet in the world. The film will focus more on the romance between Snow and Lucy (Zegler) than the actual games. In the first image we see our star-crossed lovers enjoying a picnic together…

Return to The Hunger Games, the landmark film franchise that has earned over $3 billion globally, with Lionsgate’s adaptation of Suzanne Collins’ #1 New York Times Bestseller The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. Years before he would become the tyrannical President of Panem, 18-year-old Coriolanus Snow (Tom Blyth) is the last hope for his fading lineage, a once-proud family that has fallen from grace in a post-war Capitol. With the 10th annual Hunger Games fast approaching, the young Snow is alarmed when he is assigned to mentor Lucy Gray Baird (Rachel Zegler), the girl tribute from impoverished District 12. But, after Lucy Gray commands all of Panem’s attention by defiantly singing during the reaping ceremony, Snow thinks he might be able to turn the odds in their favor. Uniting their instincts for showmanship and newfound political savvy, Snow and Lucy Gray’s race against time to survive will ultimately reveal who is a songbird, and who is a snake.

We don’t have an exact UK or Irish cinema release date just yet. Lionsgate Films are saying The Hunger Games: The Ballad Of Songbirds And Snakes will be released in USA November 2023. So expect similar release date or even early 2024 for the UK.
