Film Review - She Said (2022)

Remarkably defining true story of recent times, an experience and journey into horrendous territory that thankfully began ultimate change. Key performance from Zoe Kazan, a potential Oscar nominee amongst others enhance dramatics visually and aesthetically following the New York Times investigative reporters igniting the ardent #MeToo movement.

Based on the book by journalist trio Jodi Kantor, Megan Twohey, Rebecca Corbett, the screenplay puts in motion a platform for sufferers of abuse to be heard and understood, shifting the conversation from the perpetrators to the survivors.

Intensity all the way with doses of controlled confidence as the pair navigate random tips, anonymous phone calls and impromptu in person meet-ups.

Media ethics are pushed beyond boundaries with fact checking at times proving restrictive when inclination is to withhold truth or hesitate conversations by many.

Last seen in excellent Netflix series, Clickbait, a decade earlier Zoe Kazan caught my immediate attention writing and starring in supersonic romance, Ruby Sparks (2012). Granddaughter of legendary Hollywood director Elia Kazan, Zoe continues to raise the bar transcending optimum brilliance here.

Not to be out shadowed, a classy cast also includes double Oscar nominee Carey Mulligan, wistful Patricia Clarkson, influencing Angela Yeoh and remarkable Jennifer Ehle, all contribute unification in their roles of adversity in a sea of uncomfortable silences turning reactive.

Searing music composed by Nicolas Britell (Andor) strikes up the dramatics.
